We've welcomed back Kitty Winter and Wayne Walker-Allen (who created FIVE, the dance installation about the five senses) to work with Harriet Plewis, Gilbert Taylor and Miranda to mould a new show that takes a journey around Lingfield Point, making the spaces there musical and playful and full of some of our favourite yarn-related fairy stories!
Before the summer, we popped into North Wood Primary School in Darlington to ask Year 1 children to tell us some of their favourite fairy tales - they came up with some brilliant characters and very gruesome endings! We've taken their stories and are retelling them in great spaces at Lingfield Point, linked together by songs and some silliness before we conclude our journey in the house of the most brilliant storyteller of all, Granny Yarn. The rehearsal process has included story collecting, playing, dancing, singing, being wrapped in wool and lots and lots of knitting!
The show is for everyone aged 3 years and above. Performances are at 11.30am, 1.30pm and 3.30pm at the Festival of Thrift, Lingfield Point on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd September. Tickets are free, but because we're promenading, capacities are limited, so please book your places online at www.festivalofthrift.co.uk
